Flip Phones – Guide
Flip phones have gone from being all the rage, to being a minority amongst a sea of slider phones, bar phones, and smart phones. Though many people still continue to use and enjoy flip phones for their stylish appearance, awesome features, and compact design, others have ventured to other style phones for various reasons. In the beginning of cell phones, we saw devices that looked much bulkier than the traditional cordless phone, and then we moved on to the flip phone. That style of phone was a much sleeker design, and the trend increased.
As people saw technology expand, other styles emerged, not because the flip phone wasn’t awesome or didn’t do its job, but because people were starving for something new, something different. In spite of seeing a trend of slider phones, swivel phones, and bar phones, the flip phone has still managed to hold its ground and as the years go by, it becomes more sophisticated and gets a bit smaller.
Flip phones are available through many different manufacturers, across all cell phone carriers, and are available in many different models designed to fit nearly any budget. Regardless of whether you are on a contract or using a prepaid phone, chances are you will be able to find the right flip phone for your needs. Many of these phones can be seen with cameras and music players which serve as selling points for them. There are so many flips out there it may be hard to choose the one you want, so shop around and read customer reviews before making a purchase. Don’t fall victim to the thought that all the flips are the same. Just because you loved one doesn’t mean you’ll love them all, and just because you hated one, doesn’t mean you’ll hate them all either.
A major drawback to these types of phones for some is the lack of a full keyboard, as this is a feature of the slide phone. The text messaging trend is a hot one, especially for those who don’t like talking on the phone. Many people can and don’t mind to text with a traditional telephone keypad using just two thumbs, but still there are others who feel the full keyboard makes text messaging easier. If you are not a big fan of text messaging, a full keyboard isn’t really necessary, and makes flip phones a viable option for you. If you use a smart phone and email a lot, you may want to opt for the phone that has a full keyboard as well. Blackberry has a flip phone model that allows for the functionality of a Smartphone with the convenience of a flip. For those who want to keep up with technology but don’t want to deal with the hassle of a bar phone, that is the way to go.
